What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you read “The Biggest Risk You’ll Ever Take…”?
The initial thought in my head was a risk to do with money.
It’ll be different for everyone.
But whatever you’re thinking, you’re probably wrong.
The biggest risk that I’m talking about, is not what you think.
The Biggest Risk Is Not Taking One At All.
As Mark Zuckerberg, Founder & CEO of Facebook has said, “in a world that is changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking any risks.”
But so many people are turned off by risks. And I can see why.
Isn’t it much easier and more comfortable to be ‘safe’ and wait for opportunities to present themselves to you?
The thing is, risk taking is what distinguishes the doers from the dreamers.
While the dreamers are still sleeping and waiting for the best moment to take action, the doer has already caught the rewards.
Why Is Risk Taking So Scary?
Taking risks raises your anxiety level, which is due to uncomfortable levels of uncertainty, and comes from leaving your comfort zone.
But as you know, growth and change happen from leaving your comfort zone.
Why Be A Risk Taker?
Risk takers are more likely to be successful because they do not limit themselves.
Risk takers are not afraid of failure.
They gain knowledge from every experience and they pursue success.
Risk takers are willing to put in all their energy when every other person is hesitant.
Taking risks is part of being an entrepreneur, and if you want to have your own successful business then you’re going to have to get used to taking risks.
You’re going to have to stretch that comfort zone and you’re going to have to get comfortable getting uncomfortable.
As Zuckerberg said, the world is changing rapidly.
We are living in the digital economy and there are more opportunities than ever before. You just have to be willing to go after them.
Don’t ignore the opportunities and don’t stay safe waiting for your big success without the risk. The biggest risk really is not taking any risk.
And without the big risks, there will be no big rewards.
